Abstract
It is shown that the rate of ion-electron recombination by collisions of two electrons in the field of an ion can be obtained by an elementary calculation based on a formula given by J. J. Thomson in 1924. A comparison is made with the results obtained by Hinnov and Hirschberg and by Bates et al.Keywords
