Abstract
4,4‐Dimethylpentene−1 has been pyrolyzed in a single‐pulse shock tube. The initial process is apparently the breaking of the allylic carbon—carbon bond. The rate expressions for the reaction C4H9C3H5 lim kt−C4H9·+C3H5· has been found to be k=1015.8exp(−65 500/RT) sec−1. Assuming no activation energy for the recombination process this leads to a value of 12 kcal for the allylic resonance energy.
