Abstract
A method for the selective detection of riboflavin (vitamin B2) using liquid chromatography with a series dual-electrode electrochemical detector is described. The upstream electrode was held at –0.4 V (versus SCE) with the downstream electrode at +0.1 V (versus SCE). The linear range is 4 ng–2.6 µg and the limit of detection is 4 ng. The interference of 13 different types of vitamin on the absorbance or electrochemical detection of vitamin B2 was studied. No interference was found for the detection of vitamin B2 using the series dual-electrode detector. The method is convenient and rapid and has high selectivity. The application of the method to the detection of vitamin B2 in tablets is also described.
