Abstract
The perturbations are calculated by a vector method, exact to first order in the perturbing force, and retaining all long-period and secular terms. The effect of the earth's shadow is investigated for radiation pressure. The gravity gradient forces are given as an expansion in the ratio of the major axis of the satellite orbit to the distance from the disturbing body. As well as the lowest order term in this expansion, the next higher order term is also retained for the lunar forces.
