A trifilar-suspension rheogoniometer

Abstract
By the use of a special trifilar suspension for the plate, values of p11 - p22 (in the range 50-2000 dyn cm-2) and p21 (in the range 10-800 dyn cm-2) are obtained from the sum and difference of measured values of torque exerted on the plate for both senses of rotation of the cone. Illustrative data are given for a 292 P silicone fluid and a solution of polyisobutene in decalin, at shear rates in the range 0.2-4.0 sec-1 at the room temperature.
