Abstract
The essential oil obtained by steam distillation of the aerial parts of Perilla frutescens (L.), a plant growing wild in Northwest Vietnam, was analyzed by a combination of GC and GC/MS. More than 50 compounds were detected, of which 25 components (95% of the oil) have been identified. The main compounds were found to be limonene (28.4%), piperitone (25.9%), β-caryophyllene (16.7%) and germacrene D (5.8%).Keywords
