Abstract
Design charts for three-dimensional vertical cuts are introduced. The charts are based on a variational limit-equilibrium stability analysis. These charts can be used within the framewwork of total- or effective-stress analysis, considering the longitudinal extent of the cut. In addition to the factor of safety against collapse, the charts also provide information regarding the volume of the potentially sliding mass. Keywords
