Improved Attractant for Navel Orangeworm (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) Egg Traps in Almonds

Abstract

Dry almond press cake was compared with standard wheat bran bait in Amyelois transitella (Walker) egg traps in California almond orchards. Trapping data from three locations in the Central Valley showed that traps containing almond press cake collected more eggs than traps with wheat bran throughout the 1980 season. The almond press cake traps were also easier to maintain and service than the wheat bran traps.
