Abstract
Many of the genes controlling essential processes in cells are conserved in organisms ranging from yeast to humans. In his Perspective, Hartwell discusses how a genetic interaction network devised for yeast ( Tong et al.) may contribute to understanding the complex genetics of inherited diseases in humans. Keywords
