The life cycle of N. pictetti Klapalek was investigated at Finse in the Norwegian mountains. From 1972-1976 field sampling was conducted during the 3 mo. ice free period. In the laboratory N. pictetii was reared through its complete life cycle, with emphasis on egg incubation period and nymphal growth. The life cycle of N. pictetii takes 2 yr at Finse, compared with its univoltine life cycle in lowland habitats.
