Abstract
The discovery of subfossil Nothofagus wood buried in several peat bogs of Argentine Tierra del Fuego is reported. A provisional, fragmented-floating tree-ring width chronology covering the last 1400 years has been obtained. Statistical and spectral analysis revealed no significant differences between the present and floating Tierra del Fuego tree-ring chronologies. Some cyclical growth peculiarities found in both modern and floating chronologies are discussed. Keywords
