Abstract
The authors are pioneers in identifying somatic mutations that are involved in 'clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP)'. In this landmark paper, the authors have shown that individuals with CHIP, i.e. those with somatic mutations in peripheral blood cells, had an increased risk of coronary heart disease. This work was supported by an animal model for one of the involved genes: the authors showed accelerated atherosclerosis in TET2 KO mice.
