Abstract
Prevention strategies for central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) are divided into insertion and maintenance, as well as basic practices and special approaches. These 2014 guidelines state that basic practices should be implemented in all acute care hospitals while special approaches should be considered only when CLABSIs are not controlled by use of basic practices.
