Four cognitive tests are examined for their usefulness in quantifying and standardizing clinically significant Organic Brain Syndromes in elderly medical/surgical patients. The SPMSQ developed by Pfeiffer proved to be one of the more useful instruments for the clinician in need of a brief, objective OBS measure for elderly patients.
