Uterus Didelphys with Unilateral Imperforate Vagina: A Rare Cause of Acute Urinary Retention

Abstract

The 1st case of acute urinary retention caused by hematocolpos, due to uterus didelphys with a unilateral imperforate vagina, is reported. A brief description of this rare anomaly and its usual presenting signs and symptoms is presented. A synopsis of the embryologic defects responsible for the development of the anomaly and the recommended management of the disorder are outlined.
