To prepare their stu dents to be successful in this society, teachers must be willing to learn continuously, expand their own abilities, and assume ever-greater lead ership roles. Principals must create an environment that supports col laboration among teachers; provides time for teachers' professional development; and recognizes, rewards, and celebrates the concept of the teacher as leader.
