Abstract
Delirium is an under-researched syndrome in elderly people, which is surprising because it is common in hospitalized patients. It is associated with a high morbidity and mortality and frequently accompanies dementia. The current concepts of the syndrome and the need for further prospective and intervention studies are examined. Keywords
