Characterization of Holographic Band-Reject Filters Designed for Raman Spectroscopy

Abstract
We report the optical transmission properties of holographic band-reject filters designed for Raman spectroscopy using excitation at 514.5 nm and at 632.8 nm. We use these data to quantitatively evaluate the compromise between rejection of elastic scatter and transmission of Raman bands as a function of Raman shift. We demonstrate the use of a single filter for the rejection of elastically scattered light from the Raman spectra of a white powder and of a clear liquid.
