Absolute Photoelectric Cross Sections of 320-keV Gamma Rays in Pb, Sn, and Ag

Abstract
A well-type plastic-scintillation spectrometer has been assembled and used for the measurement of absolute photoelectric cross sections of 320-keV gamma rays in Pb, Sn, and Ag. The results are 76.5±4.6, 10.2±0.6, and 7.65±0.46 barns per atom for Pb, Sn, and Ag, respectively. These values are found to be in agreement with the standard interpolated values from the NBS Circular 583 within the range of experimental errors.
