Abstract
After a rather complete discussion of the heritage of man's past, this article points out the present hazards of environmental deterioration. Destruction of fossil fuels, inhibition of photosynthesis, and storage of isotopes released by atomic reactors have now become pressing problems. In order to solve these problems and that of population regulation, natural scientists, social scientists, and political leaders must learn to communicate more effectively with each other and with the general public. Keywords
