Abstract
The effect of interfaces on mechanical properties is considered. Elastic and plastic compatibilities at boundaries are treated. Specific influences at both low and high temperatures are discussed, with emphasis on dislocation mechanisms and the atomic scale structure of boundaries.Keywords
