Health care practitioners need to diagnose a disease and make a decision about the treatments. This has been one of the most challenging tasks for them. During the last two decades, researchers from computer science, mathematics, and medical sciences have been developing intelligent tools for supporting medical decision making. Various soft computing based systems have been successfully developed and used by healthcare professionals. In this paper, we briefly introduces the strengths of the soft computing and demonstrate the possibilities of applying these techniques to diagnosis and decision making. This review paper also identifies the more proficient techniques used in medical domain.
