Abstract
Southeast Asia is emerging as one of the fastest growing cruise regions in the world. Historically, strong economic growth, and increases in disposable incomes and leisure time, have led to an increase in the popularity and affordability of the cruise product. This paper presents an overview of the trends in the growth and development of the cruise line industry in Southeast Asia. Despite the challenges posed by the current economic crisis, there are still excellent prospects for future growth. The viability and future success of the cruise industry will be largely dependent on the cooperative endeavors shown by the public and private sectors in each Asian country to overcome the challenges and to sustain growth.
