Hidden grievers

Abstract
This article is a consideration of and reflection on the particular feelings of loss and grief experienced by the loved ones of persons who die from AIDS. It addresses some of the emotions experienced by family members, spouses, or lovers preceding and following the death of an AIDS patient and some of the issues that arise as the bereaved learn to cope with the pain of loss and grief The authors consider these issues within the context of an 8-week bereavement support group designed specifically for those with an AIDS-related loss and describe the mechanics of setting up and conducting such groups and their importance as one method of providing bereavement follow-up care for these grievers.
