Abstract
In this article, a brief overview of simulation is presented as a way to contextualize discussion of its application to pre-service clinical skill learning in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). The emphasis of this article is on the process of standardized patient implementation rather than its product. The steps involved in preparing for, implementing, and evaluating this learning activity will be discussed, as will directions for further relevant activity and research. Keywords
