Abstract
Six patients with trauma to the intracranial internal carotid artery are reported. One patient died and two are permanently disabled due to ischemic sequelae. The incidence of this complication of trauma is unknown because of the infrequent use of angiography in head-injured patients. The pathology, clinical course, and management of this condition are discussed with reference to the 25 previously reported cases in addition to the six in this series. Keywords
