Abstract
Nicrophorus hispaniola, new species, is described from the Dominican Republic, West Indies, and is distinguished from the known species of the subfamily Nicrophorinae. Preliminary cladistic analyses place this species basal to multiple species groups, which include most of the New World Nicrophorus species. This species has the most narrow range of all the New World Nicrophorus and may deserve conservation attention. Keywords
