Abstract
Liver enzymes and function tests are routinely taken in clinical practice. Deranged liver enzymes however, do not always necessarily imply an underlying liver pathology. The standard liver enzymes measured include alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase (GGT) and alanine phosphatase (ALP). These enzymes, especially ALT and AST, can be released by other organs in the body. We report an unusual case of a 48-year-old patient with deranged enzymes related exclusively to intensive exercise that resolved on discontinuing such exercise. Keywords
