Choosing antimicrobials

Abstract
A growing array of agents is available to fight the ever-present problem of microbial infection. How is the clinician to choose from among them? Indeed, what newer agents are available, and what drugs are “in the pipeline”? Drs Pankey and Valainis provide a framework for choice and an update on both newer agents and their uses and new uses for established drugs.
