Abstract
A relatively simple method for the determination of the contact angle for systems of a powder, liquid and air is described. The powder is pressed into a cake, which is pre-saturated with the liquid. The height (h) of a large drop of the liquid on this cake and the porosity (εv) of the cake are measured. The cosine of the contract angle θ can then be calculated by means of the equation: The accuracy of this method for the systems investigated lies within a few percent. Keywords
