Abstract
Data from 15 countries indicate that the death rates from causes recorded as suicide, undetermined and certain types of accidents are not significantly associated. Thus, it did not appear that some countries have lower suicide rates because their suicides are hidden as undetermined or accidental deaths. Furthermore, adding the undetermined death rate and a portion of the accidental death rate to the suicide rate did not greatly change the relative rankings of the national suicide rates.
