Abstract
Diabetic retinopathy was found in only 4% of 246 cases of newly diagnosed diabetes mellitus. Analysis of the case histories shows that diabetic retinopathy in truly recent diabetes mellitus may have been present in 2 cases, i.e. less than 1% of the patients. Keywords
