Abstract
To the Editor: We recently used bromocriptine to treat a woman with a prolactin-secreting pituitary adenoma who experienced an unusual complication. The patient, a 38-year-old woman with multiple endocrine neoplasia, type 1, underwent a parathyroidectomy for hyperparathyroidism in 1970; in 1976, she underwent a partial pancreatectomy, gastrectomy and Roux-en-y procedure for a gastrin-secreting islet-cell carcinoma. In 1977, the patient consulted a physician for galactorrhea and amenorrhea that had been present for eight years. Evaluation included x-ray examination of the skull, which showed an enlarged sella of 16 by 18 mm, thyroxine of 7.5 μg per deciliter and a serum prolactin . . .Keywords
