Interests in and Barriers to Using Computers in Instruction

Abstract

Over the past decade, a number of surveys have examined faculty use of computers and interest in using them. Several reasons for differences between use and interest are discussed in this paper: lack of faculty time, training, or reward; lack of quality software; lack of hardware; and lack of support staff. I argue that the problems are disappearing and that computer-assisted instruction can become more common.
