Abstract
Determination of the (residual) lifetime of steel structures of construction, mining and maintenance machines has recently received increased attention, particularly for safety, environmental and economic reasons. One of the problems that are addressed in this context is crane skewing, a phenomenon that directly affects, through friction and wear, the life of the crane guiding structure, and indirectly affects the secondary life of the crane supporting structure.
