Eigenvalue sensitivity analysis of GTO-CSI induction machine drives

Abstract
The importance of eigenvalue sensitivity analysis in the design of drive systems is shown. It is demonstrated that the eigenvalue sensitivity can be used to identify an association between the eigenvalues and the parameters of the system and that it can provide useful guidance in selecting the system parameters. Eigenvalue sensitivity can also be used to find possible sources of instability and to determine the most sensitive parameters. The insight into the behavior of the drive system which can be gained from a sensitivity analysis provides valuable guidance in system analysis and design. An 800 HP GTO-CSI induction machine drive is used as an example for the sensitivity analysis. The results obtained are verified by both frequency and time domain simulation methods
