Amino acid analysis with fluorescamine at the picomole level

Abstract
An amino acid analyzer based on standard column chromatographic separation techniques, but with a novel fluorometric detection system utilizing fluorescamine is described. This instrument is two orders of magnitude more sensitive than commercial analyzers employing the colorimetric ninhydrin procedure. As little as 1 μg of protein has been hydrolyzed and its amino acid composition determined.Keywords
