INTRAHYPHAL HYPHAE IN THE GENUS LINDERINA

Abstract
The origin and development of intrahyphal hyphae in two species of Linderina are described. This is only the second record of endohyphae production by a Phycomycete. Injury and aging of the mycelium were factors stimulating production of intrahyphal growth. The evolutionary significance of intrahyphal hyphae growth in the genus Linderina is briefly discussed.
