Abstract
This study reports on efforts to improve situation awareness in general aviation (GA) pilots. Several training modules for enhancing skills that underlie the development of good SA were created and evaluated in a study with GA pilots. This paper describes the testing for two modules: contingency planning and preflight planning. These modules were developed to train higher order cognitive skills used in SA formation. Student pilots from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University participated in the study. The results from this test provide some evidence of a relationship between the two training modules and improvements in SA.Keywords
