Abstract
This paper defines risk communication and puts it into the perspective of risk analysis as a whole. Case studies originating for the food industry are described in the areas of food colours, pesticides and genetically modified foods to exemplify both the difficulties of risk communication and the lessons that can be learned. This paper concludes by suggesting ways in which successful risk communication should be managed. Keywords
