Abstract
Douglas Hanahan Blood vessels are formed and maintained by a family of soluble factors that interact with tyrosine kinase receptors on the endothelial cell surface. A new angiogenesis factor (Ang2) is reported in an article by Maisonpierre et al. in this week9s issue. Hanahan describes what is known about the process of vascular morphogenesis and maintenance and how this new factor fits into this complex regulatory system.
