Abstract
A numerical averaging method for finding exactly periodic solutions [dispersion-managed (DM) solitons] of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with dispersion management is described. Variations of the method for finding solutions of fixed energy and fixed pulsewidth are discussed, and the effects of including fiber loss are considered. The generation of resonant sidebands due to phase matching between the DM soliton and the background is described for average anomalous, zero, and normal dispersion.Keywords
