Abstract
The electrolaryngograph is a device which allows clinically convenient noninvasive monitoring of vocal fold activity during speech. Since it was first described in the late 1960s and early '70s it has come into worldwide use, both in research and as a clinical tool. In this article we outline the range of analyses available and relate them to normal voice. A further article will illustrate the laryngograph's application in pathology.Keywords
