Abstract
Worldwide, the prevalence of type 2 diabetes is very high and increasing. The World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that between 1995 and 2025, the worldwide prevalence of diabetes among persons aged 20 years and older will increase from 4.0% to 5.4%.1 Diabetes is associated with a high risk for microvascular and macrovascular complications and with a high risk of premature death.2-4This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
