The Doctor–Nurse Game Revisited

Abstract
The relationship between the doctor and the nurse is a special one, based on mutual respect and interdependence, steeped in history, and stereotyped in popular culture. The underlying interaction can often be characterized as a game. In 1967 one of us described how doctors and nurses related to one another at that time.1 In this article we address the question of change. From our observations we are convinced that there have been major changes in the doctornurse relationship over the past two decades.
