Pesticide Pollution in India: Organochlorine Pesticides in Milk of Woman, Buffalo, and Goat

Abstract
As an index of pesticide pollution in breast feeding by Indian mothers, milk of woman, buffalo and goats was analyzed to estimate residues of organochlorine pesticides by GLC equipped with electron-capture detector. Contamination in human milk was high compared with buffalo and goat milk. Concentration of DDT in human milk was 12-fold higher than that of buffalo milk and 13-fold higher than that of goat milk. Residues of BHC were correspondingly high in human milk.
