Abstract
A survey of 11,879 children between the ages of 4 to 8 years showed 2.23[degree] had slight amblyopia (vision less than 0.7), and 0.45[degree] had gross amblyopia (vision less than 0.3). Among the ametropic children about 1/3 were hypermetropic and more than 1/3 showed astigmatism, while myopes didn''t exceed more than 5[degree]. Only 1. 7[degree] of all children showed manifest squint of which the convergent type was much more common than the divergent one.
