Abstract
Cylindrical and spherical ion shock (IS) waves in a dense plasma with non-relativistic and ultra-relativistic degenerate electron fluids and strongly coupled degenerate ion fluids have been investigated. By using appropriate nonlinear equations for our strongly coupled dense plasma and the reductive perturbation method, a modified Burgers equation (MBE) has been derived. The MBE has been numerically solved to depict the salient features of cylindrical and spherical IS waves in such a strongly coupled dense plasma. The implications of our results to dense plasmas in astrophysical objects (e.g., non-rotating white dwarf stars) are briefly discussed. Keywords
