Abstract
Research has shown that wheelchair use in long term paraplegia is associated with upper limb pain and degeneration that interferes with the independent performance of activities of daily living. This paper proposes a model to explain the development of upper limb problems in persons with long term paraplegia, and one that will guide in the prevention and management of this type of long term complication. Keywords
