Prevalence of Hyperactivity

Abstract
This study reports the results of the Conners Teacher Rating Scale completed for a random sample of 14,083 elementary school children. Prevalence estimates of hyperactivity and other problems showed marked consistency across age and teachers. As expected boys tended to be identified as problems more frequently than girls. Prevalence rates obtained in this study were compared with others obtained using the same instrument in other countries. The problems of using arbitrary cutoff scores with such instruments are discussed.
